Who I am and what I do

I work as a Machine Learning and Software Engineer at Eventfrog. My job is to design AI solutions and get them running on a live platform: fraud detection, chatbots and a growing set of AI services. I came into this from backend and data engineering, so I care about the pipeline, the deployment and the monitoring just as much as about the model itself.

Next to work I am finishing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Science at FHNW in Switzerland, at an 80% workload. It covers statistical modelling, machine learning and data engineering. Whatever the programme does not cover, I pick up from books and online courses in my own time.

The hours that are left go into bouldering, spikeball and handball. I also help organise events for my handball club.

ML / Software Engineer

February 2026 to Present

I work on the AI side of the Eventfrog platform. We are a small team and we take projects from the first idea to production, then keep operating them, so I am involved in every step: scoping the problem with stakeholders, preparing the data, building and evaluating the model, deploying it and watching it once it runs. Backend work is part of the job, because a model has to fit into a real service.

Fraud detection

Machine learning that spots fraudulent behaviour on the platform before it does damage.

Conversational AI that answers real user questions inside the product.

I owned a set of business applications and helped internal stakeholders digitise their processes. That meant requirements analysis, customising applications and writing detailed specifications for enhancements. I worked closely with cross-functional teams and brought in solution proposals that fit both the technical reality and what the business needed.

Consultant Data and AI

I processed data with Apache Kafka and NiFi and worked in agile teams as a DevSecOps engineer. I led client meetings, automated deployments and built highly secure systems on Kubernetes and OpenShift, including a good amount of work in the Swiss public sector.

DevOps Engineer

Agile software development with .NET Core, React and TypeScript, next to a lot of work in Apache NiFi and Kafka: decoding and categorising data, enriching the relevant topics, running aggregations in Spark and enhancing the data with KSQL. I also held partial responsibility for EBM real-time sourcing.

Junior DevOps Engineer

After the apprenticeship I grew into a DevOps engineering role inside a SAFe agile setup. I helped build a new project landscape on .NET and React while continuing to own Callback Data Record sourcing, which is where I got serious about database structuring, modelling and querying.

Four years of rotating through different jobs and projects. It started with SharePoint and frontend basics, moved on to JavaScript app development in a fully English speaking team, and ended in performance management, where the team built an application for the Swiss network.

Home assistant bot

My own take on something like Alexa, built from scratch. Video models detect objects and people around the flat, and an LLM handles the conversation so it can actually speak back. A small robotics project is growing out of it, mostly because it is fun.

Bachelor thesis, finished

Autocompletion of event metadata

Encoder based state of the art transformers that read event descriptions and pull the metadata out automatically, so organisers do not have to fill in the fields by hand. This was my bachelor thesis and it is finished.

Forecasting balancing energy prices

A time series study that used weather conditions, plant maintenance schedules, water flows and a few other drivers to predict the cost of balancing energy. Built with autoregressive methods, mainly SARIMA and SARIMAX.

Vision based traffic monitoring

Object detection with YOLO models running on a Raspberry Pi. The interesting part was optimising the model for the hardware so that traffic could be monitored on a small device instead of a server.

Religion and voting behaviour in Switzerland

We looked at how the economy of the Swiss cantons developed and compared that against their religious background. The question we tried to answer was whether catholic and reformed cantons vote differently on economic proposals.

Rockfall risk on a Swiss road

A Monte Carlo simulation of the fatality rate on a road exposed to falling rocks. The goal was to work out whether the remaining risk was low enough to reopen the road to traffic.

Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Science

A foundation in statistical modelling, machine learning and data engineering: analysis and linear algebra with ML applications in Python using Pandas and NumPy, time series analysis and forecasting with ARMA and SARIMAX models, and database design across SQL, NoSQL and time series databases. I did all of it next to an 80% workload.
